When you think Jaguar D-type the first image that springs to mind is the Long nose with Fin version that so impressively dominated Le Mans in 1956. Yet it was in 1954 that Jaguar won Le Mans for the first time with a
D-type, that being a short nose with hump version. It won against all odds against the then dominant Ferraris from Marinelo.
TWR Replicas can build your D-type replica in both formats taking advantage of the exquisite moulds from Realm Engineering. In fact the choice of configuration is entirely your and although we don’t encourage it, you can mix’n’match, Long nose and hump, short nose and fin. What we do encourage is that the D-type we build for you is correct in detail and meets your performance requirements. The LR D-type benefits from a Reynard enhanced chassis offer greater strength and ultimately stiffer handling which in turn provides better road holding. As with all the TWR Replicas the cars not only replicate the shape but the mark by using all Jaguar running gear with the only variation being the Toyota Supra 5-speed gearbox, but you can opt for the Jaguar unit. Jaguar Engines of the specification you desire and fully adjustable suspension makes this a compelling car for both the enthusiast and the racer alike.
Design and technology enhancements allow the TWR built LR D-type to give the driver better performance from both the engine and brakes, supporting the excellent handling the chassis and suspension already provide. Every build is different not only due to the body and engine variations, a TWR Replicas D-type is taylored to the customers requirements during the build process allowing for personal requirements as well as specific detailing. As with all cars built-to-Order they are individual to the customer, not mass produced and in that sense quite unique to you.
