C-type Production History
XKC 001: 1951 Biondetti/Johnson Le Mans, retired: 1951 Johnson/Rolt Tourist Trophy,  4th and lap record: May 1952 Rolt Silverstone, retired: 1952 Le Mans retired; utilised for experimental after 1952 Goodwood 9hr race and
scrapped.
XKC 002: 1951 Moss/Fairman Le Mans retired: 1951 Moss TT, 1st: 1952 Moss Silverstone, 1st: 1952 Le Mans
 retired: Whitehead/ Stewart Goodwood 9hr, retired after crash and utilised for experimental projects.
XKC 003: 1951 Walker/Whitehead Le Mans, 1st: 1951 Walker TT, 2nd: 1952 Moss Easter Goodwood (First use
of disc  brakes) 4th In handicap and fastest lap: 1952 Moss Mille Migilia, retired: 1952 Moss Monaco, crash pitsop then Black Flag: 1952 Le Mans used for spares then dismantled at the factory.
XKC 004: First Privately owned C-type Duncan Hamilton. 1952 Isle of Man and Orporto, retired: 1952 2nd behind Moss at Boreham and Turnberry: 1952 crashed in I.M.R.C. Wakefield Trophy at the Curragh: 1953 crashed heavily at Orporto rebuilt and sold to Jack Howey: later owners included John Undery of Devon and Guy Williams of Sussex (Late 60‘s)
XKC 005: Co-owned by Bill Cannell and Tommy Wisdom, who became the first privateer to complete a race in a C-type that being the 1952 Monaco GP.  1952 Moss Reims GP 1st: 1052 Moss Boreham, 1st: Turnberry 1st, Goodwood 2nd: Sold 1953 to Brigadier Michael Head, raced and won several club races and a successful Scandinavian season in 1954: Re-sold 1955 and raced by Rosemary Vickers of Caithness, July 1952 won ladies
prize Rest-and-be-thankful hillclimb, John Barber also won his class, Mrs Vicker won a sports car handicap at Charterhall: 1955 crashed in Kingsland TT at Brands Hatch. Later sold to Tony Wood of Northants and now on display loan to the Donnington Collection.
XKC 006: First C-type owned by Ecurie Ecosse, Ian Stewart.  1952 race record, 1st Jersey Road Race and best lap: 1st Charterhall , crashed at Boreham, 1st at Crimond, 1st in heat and 3rd in final at Turnberry, 1st Wakefield Trophy at Curragh, 1st at Castle Coombe, 1st at Charterhall beating Moss in XKC 005 and Salvidori in a 2.7 Ferrari and best lap: Later painted Met Blue, team colour and achieved the following results; 1953 Ninian Sanderson 6th in Easter Handicap at Goodwood: Ian Stewart  Charterhall and Ibsly, 1st: Silverstone International, 9th: Charterhall 4th having stopped whilst in the lead: Thruxton 2nd: Snetterton 1st, retired at Isle of Man: Snetterton 2 x1st: Wicklow Leinster Trophy, 5th (second fastest finisher): Silverstone British GP, 5th: Later exported to the USA, returned to the UK and totally rebuilt by Lynx Engineering for Mr Bill Lake of Sussex 1974
XKC 007: Sold to the USA distributor ‘Chuck’ Hornburg: raced and won at Elkhart Lake in 1952: sold to several private owners last known, Jack Ratteree in Arizona
XKC 008: Factory prepared for Leslie Johnson, then maintained at his works (ERA Dunstable) and at the Gretton Garage by former Jaguar mechanic John Lea: Raced the Mille Miglia but retired in 1953.  Other owners included John Hogg and John Bekaert and after several wins came third in class in the 1957 Autosport championship. Jackie Epstein restored the car in the midsixties and it as later owned by Ian Barclay Wilson.
XKC 009: Sent to the USA and  raced at Erkart Lake, 1952: won the Erkhart Lake race in 1952 and again under new ownership, Dr MRJ Whilley in 1954.  Later owner by David Darrin of New Jersey (brother of car designer)
XKC 010: Sold via the USA to Art Feuerbacher of Clarich Mortors, St. Louis.  Sherwood Johnson drove it to 3rd place at  Madera in 1952.  The best result was 3rd in the 1953 Sebring 12-hour race driven by Johnson and Wilder.  Later owned by Arthur Seyler, Cleveland.
XKC 011: Works car it retired at Silverstone in May 1952, Le Mans in June 1952.  Fifth at Silverstone, July 1952 driven by Walker, lead for 8 of 9 hours at Goodwood, August 1952, Moss/Walker: Broke track records at Shelseay and Prescott Aug/Sept 1952.  Rolt 1st at Goodwood Sept. 1952 ahead of Moss: Moss retired from Mille Miglia 1953: 17th 1953 Targa Floria Tommy Wisdom.  Lent to Dunlop for testing and registered POV 114.  Sold to Michael Salmon 1957 and raced for two full seasons.  Owned since 1963 by Guy Griffiths and on display in the Campden car collection.
XKC 012: Probably car used for Motor road test in late 1952, in April 1953 it was the car driven at Jabbeke by Dewis at 148,435mph and then used as the practice car No.18 at Le Mans. 1953 Reims 12hr 1st, Moss/P Whitehead.  Goodwood 9hr,  Moss/Walker - con rod broke.  Sent to France in 1954 after accident to XKC047 and rebuilt using mechanics from damaged car,  assuming new identity XKC047.
XKC 013: First owned by Robert Blackwood, raced at Albany, Georgia. Later owned by James Lazor in Cleveland Ohio.
XKC 014: First owned by Commander John Rutherford running at 133.07mph at NASCAR speed week, Daytona Beech 1953 later owned by Ralph Steiger Ohio late 1960‘s.
XKC 015: Sold to J.Hall and raced then sold to Maston Gregory and won at Golden Gate California, burnt out in practice at Floyd Bennett races.  Bought by Tage Hansen and rebuilt using parts from XKC034, several owners later brought back to UK  by Campbell Mclaren 1970‘s.
XKC 016: Sold to Henri Peignaux via Paris and shared with friend Luc Descollanges, fastest at Montlhery in 1953 Soleil Cannes rally test but crashed. Descollanges crashed during the 1953 Mille Miglia killing co-driver Ugnon.
XKC 017: First owned by Stirling Edwards, San Francisco 1953: 3rd at Torres Pines California later crashed by Mechanic at Pebble Beach.  Won first Torres Pines 6hr 1954 ran many hill climbs then kept as concours  show car by Charles Davies.
XKC 018: Sold via Brussels to Juan Manuel Fangio who sold it to Jose Millet of Buenos Aires and was raced at Mendoza i in June 1953: finished 3rd. Sold to Mr Magnasco.  Next owner was Ernesto Tornqvist whom Millet intended to purchase from 1960‘s.

XKC 019: Sold via Brussels to Hermann Roosdorp of Antwerp. Best result was 3rd in the 1953 Spa 24hr later crashed during the NUR burring 1000km race.  Achieved 234kmh but failed to win Belgian speed record.  Later owned by JL van Dieten, came 5th at 1954 Zandvoort sports-car (dutch GP substitute) race. Later owned by K. De Groot and subsequently sold in the USA .
XKC 020:  Sold to Frank Larson of Decatut Illinois 3rd at Offutt AFB, Nebraska June 1953, won at Wilmot Hills driven by Fred Wacker.  Raced by Carroll Shelby in 1954 including 2 wins in Texas, then owned by WL Petrie and later by Herb Stetler 1970‘s.
XKC 021: Sold to Bill Holt and raced at Goodwood Sept meeting, raced by Holt in 1953 and Mike Connell without success David Boston and Dick Protheroe shared it in 1955 then owned by various including Michael Richardson, lent toBill MacKay  who raced in the Scottish speed championship events.  Bought by John Hallihan then shipped to Australia for restoration early 1966.
XKC 022:Sold by Hoffman in 1953 to HW Wessels III who sold it to Maston Gregory to replace his burnt out  XKC015. 1st st Thompson, Connecticut.  Jan 1954 raced Gregory raced with co-driver Dale Duncan in the Argentine 1000km but only finished 14th after overheating due to faulty water pump. Gregory sold to William Wilson who has several class wins and subsequently sold it to David Rubin of New York.
XKC 023:Sold to Jaguar Seattle and Tacoma dealer Joe Henderson.  Raced by Jack Douglas and Bill Pollack in the Seattle “Seafair” 100-mile race, 2nd 1953.  Part if not all of this car believed to be in California.
XKC 024:Sold to Denver dealer Alec Thomson. Phil Hill drove came in second behind Ferrari and ahead of
Maston Gregory, “Lone Star” 200 mile race, Bertgstorm AFB Texas 1953.  Sold to James Harrison of Colorado Springs, crashed at East  v West meeting March Field 1953. Later owners based in California.
XKC 025:Sold through Moroccan dealer to Armand Roboly.  Best result: 2nd in Hyeres 12hr race, France 1953, co-driven bt Col. John Simone.  Car or bits reported to be in the USA.
XKC 026:Sold to Fiction writer Alfred Coppel who soon sold it to Sterling Edwards to replace XKC017 which has been crashed.  Best result was 2nd at Medera  California.  Sold to Julio Mariscal of Mexico City who ordered triple Webers to replace the twin SU’s.
XKC 027:Sold via Marcel Fluery, Genevato John Simone American best result 3rd at Agadir and 2nd at
Marrakech, 1954 sold to Jacques Jonneret who won at Nimes and then crashed at the Geneva Rally.  Sold to Paul Vogal who used it in ,local hill climbs.  Car was later bought back by Fluery and kept until 1975 when sold to Ole Sommer of Denmark for his personal collection.
XKC 028: Purchased by Import Motors Inc. of Colorado based in Ohio and later owned by William Franz.
XKC 029: Purchased through US for Mexico where driven by Paco Ibarra in 1953.  Sold to Javier Velazquez in 1954 later turning up back in America owned by William Frey of Massachusetts.
XKC 030: Purchased by David Hirsch in 1953 came 4th at Sebring 12hr, car was then rolled at Bridgehampton in the May.  Sold to several owners ending up with Gordon MacKenzie of Millbrook, New York who continued to race throughout the 60‘s.  Sold during the 70‘s to Edward Sutherland of Sudbury Massachusetts.
XKC 031:Sold to Donald Parkinson of Hollywood, damaged at Pebble Beach California and then sold to various until later owned by Richard Mellen of Illinois.
XKC 032:Purchased by former World Champion, Giuseppe Farina.  Later sold to Ernie Erickson of the US.  Best result was 2nd in the Lincoln Trophy race at Washington 1954 using triple Weber carbs.  Bought by “Doc” Wyllie in 1955 and won the Seneca Cup.  Purchased by JP Jefferson Scott and fitted with various non Jaguar components, later replaced again back to standard spec.  Advertised in London in 1981 for sale.
XKC 033: Purchased by Mr McManus and then sold to Maston Gregory’s brother Ridelle who won the novice race at March Field California in 1953.  3rd in the Del Monty Trophy at Pebble Beach in 1954.  Various owners and reported to have been fitted with XKC 024‘s bonnet, later restores in Florida and owned by Walter Hill in the 1970‘s.
XKC 034: Sold to Jack Shepherd in Tampa Florida in 1953.  Sold to Lorin McMullen in 1954 of Fort Worth, Texas. Came 3rd in two races at the Fort Worth race meeting. Later sold.  Reported to have been fitted with V8 and then written-off.  Car then purchased by Mark Daniels of Milwaukee in the 60‘s and cannibalised with XKC 015.  Some parts later reported with Jim Grieff of Wisconsin.
XKC 035: Purchased and raced by Jean Heurtaux, holder of the Algiers - Cape record.  1953 competed in the Soleil-Cannes Rally and Mille Miglia, broke hillclimb record at Planfoy. Lost control at the finish and died in the crash, May.
XKC 036: Purchased by Guy Berthonier of Garage America in Casablanca, 1st in over 2-litre class at Dakar and 4th at Marrakech.  Car was written-off at the Portuguese GP meeting June 1953.
XKC 037: Factory works car 1952, crashed in practice, Silverstone, by Moss in 1952, rebuilt by factory.  Sold to John Manusse of Kenya who also crashed in the Dundrod TT requiring second works rebuild 1953.  Raced in 54 by Gerry Dunham Jr.: 3rd at Whit-Goodwood, retired from Reims 12hr and then exported to Australia.  Bought and raced by John Boorman of NSW later purchased as a wreck by Frank Gardner.  Restored and raced by Ian Cummins in the 70‘s and later sold to customer in Sydney.
XKC 038: Extensively raced car sold to Duncan Hamilton in 1954 gaining wins at Aintree and Montlhery.  Bought by Dan Marguilles late 1954 and raced in the UK and abroad: 1st Castle Combe 1955, 3rd Sardinia road race driven by Graham Hill.  Sold in 1956 after completing the Targa Florio where it raced numerous times. Later owned by Peter Sargent.
XKC 039: Sold to Peter Whitehead and raced: 1st with best lap at Goodwood 1953, 6th at Silverstone international meeting, 1st at Hyeres 12hr, 6th at Lisbon, retired from Pescara, retired after leading Mount Druitt NSW 24hr 1954.  Sold to Jack Tutton of NZ and later owned and raced by Ian and Ray Archibald of Christchurch in historic races.
XKC 040: Sold to Jim Swift of Stoke-on-Trent who raced  with mixed success 1953.  Various UK owners then sold to Bill Dunn of Jacksonville, Florida.  Reported being restored by Walter Hill also owner of XKC 033 in 1980.
XKC 041: Sold to Merchiston Motors, Edinburgh in 1953, run by David Murray and “Wilkie“ Wilkinson, as HQ of Ecurie Ecosse.  Sold to Sir James Walker of Faringdon Engineering in Berkshire who kept it for some time before eventually being sold through the trade to John Blanden of Adelaide, in 1980 .
